Many thanks to my Raw Class participants who have sent me these examples from their new improved editing workflow.
Crystal, from Hawaii, posted this one on Facebook. She said:
"This is the original edit I had for this image ...
... and then I re-worked it while going through the Raw Class. I'm extremely happy with the results. (This is straight out of ACR without anything additional in Photoshop besides a horizon fix). Thanks Damien!"
Another Crystal, from California, also posted one on her Facebook page:
"Left is my old way of using ACR to bring into Photoshop, and right is after using Damien's methods from the Raw Class. MUCH better! No edits done in Photoshop, all done in ACR. Will save me a LOT of time in Photoshop, and more time for the creative editing! GREAT class and I HIGHLY suggest it!"
Stacy, from Ohio, sent me this one, and said:
"Nothing further done in CS5, just some good ol corrections in ACR."
When we do the basic things well, everything falls into place. Thanks Stacy, for contributing this great example.
Here's a beautiful photo from Coleen in Idaho. The initial edit was done using Lightroom, and she followed it up with some tweaks in Elements:
Coleen said: "I've been playing with ACR and LR for about a year, just fidgeting with the sliders without really knowing what I was doing. But after taking your class I cannot believe how much better my edits are turning out! And in less time because now I know I don't have to use ALL the sliders ;)".
This one is from Kristine in Illinois:
"Thank you so much. If it weren't for your class I would never have been able to save this picture."
Kim, from New Zealand, had already been working with raw files for a couple of years, but still found plenty of value in the class.
Here's a photo that she'd edited prior to taking the course:
Since taking the class, she told me that she feels a lot more confident in her editing.
"Suddenly I really understand what the controls in ACR/Lightroom do. I don't need to muck around to see what works - I can just go right to it and do it. It takes me half the time. FINALLY I have found that x-factor that was missing."
Here is Kim's new "bolder" edit:
